Minutes of the Special Board Meeting (Seventh) for 2006

Held on Monday, May 22, 2006 at the Temple

Meeting called to order at 6:45 pm.

Present: Ram Kamath, Subhash Dighe, Naresh Sinha, Ajay Sharma, Rita Varma, Abha Gosain, Rakesh Sharma, Romi Sareen, Lalitha Kumar, Shammi Gandhi, Shikha Sareen, Mani Subramanian, Mahendra Deonarain

The purpose of this special Board meeting was to discuss the request of the family of the main sponsor of the Shiv Parivar Pran Pratishtha to have the Pran Pratishtha done on June 9, 10 11, 2006.

The Bansal family would like to have the Pran Pratishtha done immediately to accommodate the availability of family members before they leave Canada. Mani worked with the family on this issue for a long time and seemed sympathetic to their request. He raised the point that there were two considerations:

(1) Doing the rituals properly for Yajman

(2) Raise funds for the temple.

It was explained to the Board that the Bansal family had donated $5000 for Shiv Parivar and would make no further donation towards this Pran Pratishtha. The Board also was informed that normally the cost of a Pran Pratishtha was around $10 000 and that the replacement cost for Shiv Parivar was about $5000. Board members felt that our Hindu Community had already donated huge sums of money within a very short time for the other 4 Pran Pratishtha and that it was unlikely that the community would be able to put out another $50 000 for this event within short notice.

There were suggestions that this Pran Pratishtha should be done later this year or early next year.

After a lengthy discussion, Ram proposed the following motion that " We postpone the Shiv Pran Pratishtha originally scheduled for June 9, 10 11" seconded by Subhash. After the matter was fully discussed, the motion was put to a vote and it accepted by 11 directors with 2 directors abstaining. After further consultations with the relevant personnel, a new time frame would be proposed. Mani promised to report this decision to the family.

Announcements:

· On June 11, 2006, Rev. Pujya Shree Ram would deliver a lecture 3-5pm at our Temple.

· Gayatri Jayanti would be celebrated 2:30 - 6 pm on June 10, 2006 at the Temple.

The meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm.
